Smithers Town Council will consider a Temporary Use Permit Application (TU17-03) application for the property located at for 3840 Broadway Avenue on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018, beginning at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall, 1027 Aldous Street, Smithers, BC.

The applicant, Paul’s Bakery, is requesting to temporarily retain use of a shipping container located at the rear of the subject property for the purposes of storage.

Anyone who believes they will be affected by the changes proposed by this application is invited to present verbal comment at the January 9th, 2018, Council meeting or submit written comments to Council prior to the meeting. Written submissions must be received by 1:00 pm on Monday January 8th, 2018 to be considered by Council.

What is a Temporary Use Permit?
A Temporary Use Permit is an approval from Council to permit temporary uses notwithstanding Zoning Bylaw 1403. Temporary Use Permits can be issued for a maximum 3-years and can only be renewed once. As part of the review process, letters are mailed to owners and tenants within a 60-m radius of the subject property advising of the application and opportunity to provide written comments to Council.

The applicant, Telly’s Grill Restaurant, is requesting to temporarily retain use of an auxiliary building located at the rear of the subject property for the purposes of storage.

Anyone who believes they will be affected by the changes proposed by this application is invited to present verbal comment at the January 9th, 2018, Council meeting or submit written comments to Council prior to the meeting. Written submissions must be received by 1:00 pm on Monday January 8th, 2018 to be considered by Council.

The applicant, HBH Land Surveying, is requesting to temporarily retain use of two auxiliary buildings located at the rear of the subject property for the purposes of storage.

Anyone who believes they will be affected by the changes proposed by this application is invited to present verbal comment at the January 9th, 2018, Council meeting or submit written comments to Council prior to the meeting. Written submissions must be received by 1:00 pm on Monday January 8th, 2018, to be considered by Council.

The Meadows

The Meadows has 14 single bedroom units that are all self contained and wheelchair accessible. Two units are specifically designated as handicapped and have modifications to accommodate someone in a wheelchair.

The Smithers Community Services manages the building, and the provision of hospitality services which include social and recreation activities, meals, emergency response service, and housekeeping and laundry.

Northern Health Authority is responsible for the personal care aspect of the program, and BC Housing provides funding, monitoring of the society, and standards of care.
