Public Notice: Bylaw No. 1814 “Council Procedure Bylaw No. 1766 Amendment No. 17-01”

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that under the provisions of the Community Charter, the Council of the Town of Smithers will consider “Bylaw No. 1814 - Council Procedure Bylaw No. 1766 Amendment No. 17-01” for readings at the Tuesday, October 10, 2017, Regular Meeting and consider Adoption at the Tuesday, October 24, 2017, Regular Meeting. Both meetings are held at 6:30 pm at 1027 Aldous Street, Smithers, BC.

Council Procedures Bylaw No. 1814 proposes the following amendment:

The first Council meeting must be held within the first ten (10) days of November following a general local election.

If a quorum of members elected at the general election has not taken office within the first ten (10) days of November in the year of the election, the first Council meeting must be called by the Corporate Administrator and held as soon as reasonably possible after a quorum has taken office.
