POSITION TITLE:         Community Safety Officer IV

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the Community Safety Officer IV develops, implements, and administers bylaws such as animal control, traffic control and nuisance, liaises with the RCMP regarding the coordination and implementation of crime prevention programs, and educates and shares information with the public on municipal bylaws, programs, and initiatives.

Qualifications for a Community Safety Officer IV include a post-secondary education in criminology or previous experience as a Peace or R.C.M.P Officer; courses in bylaw enforcement (Justice Institute of BC Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Program), animal control, community policing and crime prevention. Must pass an enhanced RCMP Security Clearance; have a minimum of 2 years’ related experience in policy, bylaw, crime prevention, community policing work, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience in other investigative fields.

Candidates with lesser experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered at a Level I ($35.72), Level II ($37.71), or a Level III ($39.55).
