POSITION TITLE:     Executive Assistant
DEPARTMENT:         Corporate Services
HOURS OF WORK:   35 hours per week

SALARY        $69,025.90 - $81,396.68 Annually


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Executive Assistant performs specialized and confidential administrative work in the areas of corporate administration and human resources, directly supporting the Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Corporate Services. This is a 4 month term position for leave coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in minute taking and agenda development.
  • Ability to undertake research work requiring close attention to detail and to complete complex assignments to a successful resolution with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, employees, other agencies and the public.
  • Considerable working knowledge of the Local Government Act, the Communitv Charter and Council procedures, parliamentary rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work to frequent and changing deadlines and priorities within short time frames.
  • Proficient in MS Office and other computer applications
  • The ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with all matters related to the position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including regular evenings and/or split shifts.

Education:

  • High school graduation
  • Two-year Public Administration program (preferred)

Experience: 

  • Five years’ experience in a comparable position preferably in a Municipal or Government setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
