Surrounded by mountain ranges, Smithers is a northern gem, nestled at the base of Hudson Bay Mountain. With a population of 5,400, it is a service hub for a surrounding region comprising of a population of approximately 15,000.
Residents enjoy four seasons of recreational activities; in addition to a ski hill within a half an hour of town, the region offers word-class fishing, backcountry and cross-country skiing, hunting, golfing and alpine trails for hiking and horseback riding coupled with a lively music scene, Art Gallery, Museum, theatrical performances, and an energetic sporting community.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Reporting to the Detachment Office Manager, the RCMP Clerk provides administrative and customer support services to police officers, detachment staff, and the general public. This position is also primarily responsible for the dispatch function at the detachment. The RCMP Clerk is required to handle sensitive and confidential information requiring a strong degree of tact, judgement, and discretion.
Qualifications include:
• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of three years of administrative and/or clerical experience, preferably within a police environment.
• Trauma or critical incident training/experience would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will be required to pass and maintain Enhanced Security and Criminal Record clearance. If a candidate already possesses the Enhanced Security and Criminal Record clearance, it is considered an asset.
