POSITION TITLE:     Certified Mechanic

DEPARTMENT:         Operations

HOURS OF WORK:   40 hr/ week

HOURLY RATE:         $41.10 (2024)


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Reporting to the Director of Operations the Certified Mechanic is responsible for providing journeyman mechanical maintenance and repair to Town vehicles, power tools and equipment, and lead the Town fleet management plan

  • Education:
    • High School Graduation
  • Certification:
    • Current and valid BC certificate of trades qualification in Heavy Duty Mechanic (4 years) or commercial transport mechanic (4 years), Valid BC Drivers License Class 3 with air endorsement
    • Safety Certification and Other Licenses:
      • Level 1 First aid, WHMIS
  • Desirable Certification and Training:
    • Electrical Diagnosis & Repair, Hydraulic Diagnosis & Repair
    • Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification
    • Familiarity with Electric Vehicle Maintenance
  • Experience:
    • 3 years of related experience including welding and fabrication, diagnostic and analytical scanning tools or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
