Job Posting #21-13 Director of Finance

The Town of Smithers has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Finance to join the Executive Management Team.

The Director of Finance is a statutory officer position accountable for the duties of the financial officer under the Community Charter and is responsible for the overall direction of the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, financial forecasting, investing, revenue collections, property taxation, payroll and expenditure control functions of the town.

The ideal candidate will have a professional accounting designation or an equivalent combination of education and experience working in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in Local Government. The applicant must have a demonstrated knowledge of the Community Charter and the Local Government Act as well as knowledge of municipal accounting principles. The candidate must be a motivated team player, strategic thinker and have demonstrated work ethic and professionalism.
