The Smithers Fire Rescue team responds to fires of all nature which include responding to structure fires, grass and urban interface fires, vehicle fires, and hazardous materials events.
Firefighters also respond to non-fire calls including medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents and fire alarm activations.
Residents who live within the Smithers Fire Protection Area are encouraged to apply.
Junior Firefighter Program
The Junior Firefighter Program is open to high school students who are looking to gain real-world experience in Firefighting and First Responder training. The program is approximately 18 months and provides youth with the opportunity to practice skills and receive certification.
