Over the last two years the Town’s Level 2 charging stations have provided its users with over 20,000 kWhs of energy to charge their Electric Vehicles (EV). These community members have together saved over 20 tonnes of CO2e- emissions. That’s equivalent to driving a diesel vehicle 120,000 km - or Smithers to Prince Edward Island 20 times!
To recuperate the costs of supplying this electricity and to support the maintenance and replacement of charging units, the Second Avenue Level 2 EV Charge Point stations will now be charging a fee of $2/hour (Incl GST) to its users.
As more EVs enter our community it is important users do not overstay their required charge time to allow more users to access the stations. An overstay charge of $2.50/hour (Incl GST) will be applied after a 30-minute grace period from when a vehicle is fully charged.
