SMITHERS, BC – At 8:17 a.m., Smithers Fire Rescue received a call for a fire at the
encampment across from Town Hall on Alfred Avenue. Three firefighting apparatuses were
deployed, carrying a total of six crew members. The fire crews worked efficiently to contain the
fire and cleared the scene by 8:55 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no injuries were reported.
The Town of Smithers would like to thank the Smithers Volunteer Firefighters Association for
their efforts in swiftly responding to the call and extinguishing the fire.
