At the Tuesday, November 26th, 2024 Regular Meeting of Council, Town Council waived the requirement to hold a Public Hearing on an Amendment to the Zoning Bylaw No. 1975, as part of the proposed Mobile Vending Bylaw No. 1964. Council approved first and second readings.
Section 464(2) of the Local Government Act lists the justification to waive a Public Hearing. The Amendment is consistent with the Official Community Plan (OCP) in effect for the area subject to the Zoning Bylaw, and consistent with the OCP’s vision and policies.
Bylaw No. 1975: Initiated by the Town of Smithers, the text amendments are to the Town of Smithers Zoning Bylaw No. 1936.
Subject Property: All properties within the Town of Smithers' jurisdiction.
Purpose: To permit Mobile Vending as an Auxiliary Use in all Agricultural, Residential, Commercial, Comprehensive Development, Industrial, Public Use, and Airport Zones; to add description of the requirements for issuance of a Mobile Vending Business License.
