Power has been restored to most BC Hydro customers in and around the Town of Smithers following Saturday's windstorms. BC Hydro crews are working to restore power to any customers who may still be affected. With recovery work underway, the Town’s Emergency Operations Centre will stand down at 10:30am, March 9, 2026. The Town will not be providing further updates related to this event.
We appreciate the community’s patience and support while staff worked to clear fallen trees from roadways and share timely information as it became available. Thank you to residents, partners, and crews who contributed to the response and recovery efforts.
