Smithers, BC — The Town of Smithers is excited to welcome the Minerals North Conference and Tradeshow to the community from Wednesday, May 6 to Friday, May 8, 2026.
Minerals North is a non-profit organization dedicated to hosting its annual conference, which rotates among communities across Northern British Columbia. It is considered as one of the largest mining conferences in Western Canada.
In 2026, Smithers is proud to host this signature event, bringing together industry leaders, businesses, communities, and partners to share knowledge, build connections, and explore the future of mining and resource development in Northern BC. With the theme “Unearthing Opportunities,” the conference will celebrate innovation, collaboration, and the economic potential of the region—while showcasing the exceptional hospitality that defines Minerals North.
Approximately 450 delegates and tradeshow exhibitors from across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Manitoba, and beyond have registered to attend, bringing economic benefits to the community through local accommodation, retail, food and beverage, and other services.
The tradeshow, held at the Civic Centre, will be open to the public on Friday, May 8, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. This is an excellent opportunity for community members, as well as high school and post-secondary students, to learn more about the mineral industry and related services. Please note that parking will be very limited. Attendees are encouraged to walk or arrange alternative transportation where possible.
