ABOUT SMITHERS
Surrounded by mountain ranges and beautiful lakes and rivers, Smithers is a true northern gem. The town has a population of around 5,400 and is a service hub for the surrounding region comprised of approximately 15,000 people.

Residents enjoy four seasons of recreational activities; including a ski hill within half an hour of town, world-class fishing, backcountry and cross-country skiing, hunting, golfing and alpine trails for hiking and horseback riding, along with a lively music scene, boutique shopping, an art gallery and museum, an aquatic centre, and numerous family-friendly activities.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Town of Smithers is seeking two (2) Summer Students for the 2026 summer season.
The Summer Student(s) will perform a variety of functions and operate a wide range of equipment related to the general maintenance of Town property, facilities and infrastructure. 
Qualifications include:
•    Must be attending a recognized secondary or post-secondary educational institute, or equivalent, returning at the start of the next school year or semester;
•    Valid Class 7 BC or Class 5 (preferred) B.C. driver's license;
•    Ability to perform the duties assigned, including heavy manual labor for extended periods at various heights in all types of weather and environmental conditions;
•    A safety-first attitude;
•    Ability to receive and follow detailed instructions, both oral and written, with a positive attitude;
•    Able to interact tactfully with supervisors, co-workers, and the public;
•    An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
