Do you ever wonder how the Town decides which roads get paved?
The Town of Smithers:
- Follows a condition assessment and replacement report developed by consultants.
- Carries out visual condition inspections annually.
- Identifies any underground infrastructure conflicts.
- Accounts for roads that have high numbers of resident concerns.
While we would like to pave every road in town, that’s not possible due to budgets and timing. What we can do is pave as many roads as we can each year and improve our road network!
The 2026 paving list is:
- Queen Street – Alfred Avenue to Highway 16
- Bulkley Drive – 7th Avenue to 8th Avenue
- Alfred Avenue – Toronto Street to Elm Drive Intersection
- Elm Drive
- King Street & Frontage Road Intersection
