The Town of Smithers is currently updating Bylaw No. 2003 – Fees and Charges. As a result, business licence and dog licence renewal notices will not be issued until the end of January 2026.
Important information for licence holders:
- Existing business and dog licences will remain valid until February 28, 2026, even if the licence on display indicates an expiry date of December 31, 2025
- No late fees or penalties will be applied during this transition period
- Renewal notices, including payment instructions, will be issued once the bylaw update is complete
