Surrounded by mountain ranges and beautiful lakes and rivers, Smithers is a true northern gem. The town has a population of around 5,400 and is a service hub for the surrounding region comprised of approximately 15,000 people.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
This is a hybrid position in which the incumbent works full-time as a Parks Personnel during the spring/summer months and part-time as an Arena Worker in the fall/winter months.
The Parks Personnel I performs a variety of labour and maintenance functions for Town parks and boulevards and assists in other Works and Operations areas.
The Arena Worker I performs a variety of maintenance and operational functions such as building maintenance and janitorial, operating ice resurface machine, ice making, and refrigeration plant operation as per Technical Safety British Columbia (TSBC) certification. Evening and weekend availability is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduation;
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License;
- Level 1 First Aid, CPR, Defibrillation;
- Refrigeration Safety Awareness, Ice Facility Operator Certification or Power Engineering Class 5 with refrigeration, ice-making certificate;
- 2 years building maintenance experience;
- 1 year landscaping or grounds keeping experience;
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
