The Town of Smithers invites qualified audit firms to submit proposals for auditing the financial statements of the Town of Smithers and of the Smithers Public Library (proposals to quote fees separately). The Library is consolidated in the Town’s financial statements.
Audits must be planned and executed in accordance with Canadian Auditing Standards, and provisions of the Local Government Act and Community Charter. Audits will result in an opinion to the Town’s Council (or Library Board) as to the fairness of the annual financial statements.
The Auditor should have experience and expertise in performing municipal audits, be free of any obligations or interests that may conflict or affect their ability to perform and act as the Auditor of the Town or the Library and have the capacity to provide this service in a timely manner.

The Town of Smithers is seeking proposals from qualified consulting firms to develop a comprehensive Economic Development Plan. The scope of the project will include developing a framework for attracting and retaining diverse investment to create employment, expanding the municipal tax base, and supporting a resilient local economy.
The Plan will inform priorities and investment decisions made by the Town, businesses, non-profit groups, and other stakeholders, and will enhance community well-being, economic prosperity, and position Smithers as a great place to live and do business. The Plan will focus on a community-centred engagement process that will build upon existing assets. The selected firm will have expertise in economic development, placemaking, community engagement, sustainable development, economic resiliency, and community economic development. This Plan will provide a summary of recent economic impacts to date and will compel inspiration for future economic prosperity.

The Town of Smithers is seeking innovative, dedicated, professionals who would be interested in supplying Food and Beverage services as well as provide Host, Ambassador, and Information Services to Airport patrons at the Café located in the Smithers Regional Airport terminal building.
RFP for the operation of the "Airport Cafe" will be received by the Town of Smithers until the position is filled.
Consideration will be given to proponents who demonstrate a clear ability to independently operate the Café in a professional and positive manner, with personalized customer service. Proponents are required to act as an agent for the Town by collecting parking fees, submitting parking fees on a monthly basis, stocking a Town-owned vending machine and working collaboratively with Airport tenants.
RFP documents are available at the Airport Administration Office located at 6421 Airport Road, and the Town of Smithers Municipal Office located at 1027 Aldous Street. Bidders are required to register when picking up tender packages.
All Proposals must be submitted to the Airport Manager in a sealed envelope, clearly marked "Proposal – Airport Cafe Contract # 2022-01”. Bidders shall sign the Declaration and attach it to the outside of the envelope.
Proposals will be publicly opened at the above stated time in the Board Room at the Airport Administration Office. All Proposals will be examined as to their sufficiency and evaluated by Town staff. The Town of Smithers is seeking the services of a qualified and experiences consultant to complete a detailed Building Condition Assessments (BCA), Energy Audit (EA) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Pathway Feasibility Study on multiple Town owned buildings. The standard of these reports must align with the requirements of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Green Municipal Fund (GMF) Community Buildings Retrofit program GHG reduction Pathway Feasibility Study incentive.
The advancement of the BCA, EA and GHG reduction pathway study is contingent on the successful submission and approval of the GMF Community Buildings Retrofit (CBR) program. The Town has received pre-approval for the GMF CBR program and will work with the selected consultant to complete and submit a final application.

The Town of Smithers invites tenders from qualified contractors for Contract 2023-05 Sidewalks and Accessibility.
This contract consists of supplying the labour, materials, and equipment to construct and repair concrete and brick sidewalks within Town of Smithers. The general scope includes approximately 500 l.m. new sidewalk construction, miscellaneous brick repairs, and approximately 10 proposed concrete pedestrian ramps and boulevard crossings.
The tender package for this project is available on the new BC Bid system, or a copy may be picked up at Town Hall reception. Additional necessary documents must be obtained from the MMCD organization; instructions are provided in the downloadable BC Bid package.

The Town of Smithers is seeking proposals from qualified consulting firms to develop a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The scope of the project will require analysis of current and forecasted needs, identifying priorities, condition assessment of parks and recreation facilities, conceptual plan preparation for selected parks, recommendations, and development of an implementation strategy that will help guide the future planning, programming, operation, maintenance, and development of the Town's parks, trails and open spaces, recreation facilities, and recreation programs over the next 10 years. The Town of Smithers is seeking an experienced geotechnical engineering firm to conduct a slope assessment prior to proposed expansion of the Town cemetery. The project scope is expected to include a drilling program and sample analysis, a report of findings, and general design and construction recommendations.

Overview of the Opportunity
The Town of Smithers is seeking a qualified firm or individual to fulfill the responsibilities of Campground Attendant as an independent contractor for the provision of services for the Riverside Municipal Campground.
Term
Contract is for the 2023 season with an option to renew for the 2024 season.
Season
The campground is open to the public from May 15th to Oct 1st.
Payment for Services
The Town of Smithers will pay the Riverside Campground Attendant $170 per day, plus applicable taxes, on each day the Park is open to campers during the Season.
On-Site Accommodations
During the term of the Contract, the Attendant shall live on site in an RV accommodation provided by the Attendant. Pad rental and associated RV services are provided by the Town of Smithers.

This Contract consists of supplying the labour, materials, and equipment to perform roadway and parking lot traffic marking within the Town of Smithers, including groundside markings at the Smithers Regional Airport. The general scope includes approximately 44km of paved roads, 3km of parking division lines, a rainbow crosswalk, and other associated markings.
