The Town of Smithers has received a Form and Character Development Permit with Variance application for 1841 Princess Street (see Schedule A). The Smithers & Area Housing Society (SAHS) has applied to build two, 4-unit duplexes on the subject 4-lot parcel. As part of the development, the Town’s Subdivision Servicing and Development Standards Bylaw No. 1800, Section 3.4(c) and Schedule “B” requires the proponent to complete various off-site works. The proponent intends to fulfill this requirement as part of the development process. However, due to resource constraints, the applicant is requesting a waiver for the lane paving requirement as part of the Development Permit (DP) approval process.
At its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Smithers Town Council will consider the proposed DP application with variance request. Anyone who believes they will be affected by the proposed variance is invited to submit written comments regarding the subject application. All written submissions must be received at the Town Office before 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025.
