At its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Smithers Town Council will consider the Development Variance Permit (DVP) application DV26-03 for 1306 Main Street. 

The applicant proposes two fascia signs, one facing Main Street and one facing Fourth Avenue with a total area of 4.076 m². Under Section 8.4(a) of the Town of Smithers Sign Bylaw No. 1841 -- which establishes the maximum fascia sign area permitted for parcels housing multiple businesses -- the maximum permitted fascia sign area for this business is 2.025 m². Therefore, the applicant’s request is to vary section 8.4 a) of the Town of Smithers Sign Bylaw. 

Anyone who believes they will be affected by the proposed variance permit is invited to submit written comments regarding the subject variance permit application. All written submissions to be included on the Council meeting agenda must be submitted either in person at the Town Office or via email at general@smithers.ca, and received before 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at the Town Hall, 1027 Aldous Street, Smithers, BC, and Facebook livestreamed at www.facebook.com/TownofSmithers/
